"Cloister"
oil on wood panel, 16"x24"
I haven't yet painted a landscape that I've been pleased with,
but I think this one is well on its way to being the first. Ever since my
first trip to Europe, I've really liked the serenity in the old churches,
particularly in the cloisters, so I decided to paint one. Even though this
painting might be reminiscent of something that you'd see on a paint-by-number
kit, I don't care--I intend to give it to my parents, and I'm sure they'd
rather hang this up than an abstract representation of a uterus. I'm also
experimenting with color and brush strokes in a semi-Impressionistic manner,
but it's hard to tell in this picture. These are two "in progress"
shots.
