links

Here are some links related to poetry. Many of them are forums that I visit, and there are a few sites for reference. Please contact me if you find any broken links.

  • Craft of Poetry: I discovered this site when I was working on my Intro to Poetry final project, and I found it to be a great general reference. It's short enough to be readable, but it covers many basics that beginners should all know.
  • Eratosphere: I love browsing through these forums because of the quality of the poetry and the friendliness of (most of) the people. I very rarely post, though, because I don't feel like my level is up to the point where I can contribute meaningfully.
  • Poetry Free-For-All: Generally, the poetry on these forums tends to be of decent quality, but the moderators are very strict and often harsh. I've found many of the articles in the Blurbs of Wisdom to be extremely helpful in writing poetry. They also run another set of forums called "The Pink Palace of Poetitude," but I don't care for most of the work there.
  • PoetsAlley: I think I post more on these forums than at any others. The community is fairly small, and the quality of the poetry varies, but I like the tight-knit feeling. The art forum is also pretty active.
  • RhymeZone: Can't think of a rhyme? Whee! Every poet's dream come true.
